  • Resolution Control (Scrubbing)
    • We imagine location, time stamps, and data to be fine grained. Some users will not want fine-grained information about their were abouts at some given time released or might not want fine resolution data to be released. Rather, a more gross indication of time, location, or data may be more desirable for the user. We envision a scrubbing service that does this resolution service. This service would take fine grained time, location, and/or data samples, verify the signatures are from trusted ifnormation providers and then turn the given fine-grained information into more gross information. this gross version of hte information along with the hashed signed data would be returned to the user. The campaigns would be able to verify that the data came from a known scrubber, which they would trust to have verified the original fine-grained information.
      • Location resolutions: point, zipcode, city, state, country.
      • Time resolutions: seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years.
      • Image resolutions: blur faces, blur text, size change, add noise, selective blanking, cropping.
      • Audio resolutions: decibal, rearrange, chop with blanks, quality down sample.

  • Attest
    • Another important aspect of the mediator is the ability to do attestation of location and time.
      • Time: Input data and get returned a hashed signed version from the mediator of the current time.
      • Location: Input data and get returned a hashed signed version from the mediator of the current location.
  • Other Features
    • Tracking Problem: How do we take care of the problem where a user can be tracked based on location readings.
    • Data Trust System: Would be nice to trust level to data based on previous values of a given modality.
  • Work in Progress
    • We need to think about an authentication system for this whole thing. Could OpenID help?
    • Also need to see how we can incorporate GeoServer.
    • Finally, can the realtime reputation management system be introduced somehow.
  • Other Features that might be useful for future development of the Mediator.
    • Data expiry
    • Think of some kind of tracer/marker system that the user could use to verify that the system is behaving the way the user expects with the users data or queries. This could be some kind of a log the scrubbers could send the user with data they processed for the user.

Authentication How to make Mediator/Proxy authenticate to Data Store (SB).
